Physical Therapy Assistant
Able2 is currently seeking a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to work Monday - Thursday. The PTA supports the development and implementation of a Physical Therapy plan of care as designed by the Licensed Physical Therapist. Works with both the Director as well as the Physical Therapist to assist in initial and ongoing employee training related to basic body mechanics, use of adaptive equipment, and participates in person centered planning for individuals on their caseload.
This position is 32 hours/wk and is eligible for full time benefits. As a full time employee, you will accrue paid time off starting day one. The salary for this position is 31.25/hr.
As a Physical Therapy Assistant, your duties would include:
- Carries out maintenance-related treatment programs on the basis of evaluation, and under the supervision of the Physical Therapist.
- Assists the licensed therapist in conducting observations and administration of standardized and non-standardized procedures in order to identify performance levels.
- Provides orientation and on-going training to staff related transfers, body mechanics, and use/care of adaptive equipment.
- In conjunction with the licensed therapist, helps to develop therapy goals and treatment plans.
- Participates in treatment team meetings regarding individuals and their programs.
- Coordinates therapy space schedule with involved program staff.
- Maintains records in compliance with Agency policy and procedures.
- Encourages individuals to actively participate in purposeful activities to enhance the development of gross motor skills, functional mobility, neuromuscular functioning, strength and endurance.
Qualifications:
- Physical Therapy Assistant associates degree registered with the NYS Education Department.
- Minimum of 2 years of work-related experience as a PTA preferred.
- Experience working with people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities is desirable.
- Possess a valid driver's license, reliable transportation or access to reliable transportation.
